Significant Amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act

October 1, 2008

Are you prepared?  Effective January 1, 2009, there will be significant changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  The amendments will greatly expand the definition of "disability," creating new challenges for employers who are already struggling with their obligations under the reasonable accommodation requirements.

By expanding the definition of "disability," the amendments will significantly expand the number of employees who qualify for the protections of the ADA – and for whom employers may need to provide reasonable accommodation.
