Joseph Steinfield will kick off the Redwood Library & Athenaeum’s 2018 Life of the Mind Lecture Series this year with a talk entitled “Gerrymandering, Cake Baking, and the Supreme Court.” Steinfield, a frequent lecturer and author, will discuss two important cases brought before the Supreme Court in the past year – the case regarding the gerrymandering of electoral districts in Wisconsin and that of the Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a same-sex couple’s wedding ceremony. Steinfield will discuss the impact of these cases and the possible implications for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the First Amendment. Click here to buy tickets and learn more.
