The 2006 ARIAS U.S. Spring Conference took place from May 18-20 in Palm Beach, Florida. The conference theme focused on how the powers of arbitrators may be challenged at various stages of an arbitration process and the issues arbitrators should consider when determining the scope of an arbitration panel’s powers. Firm partner, Mitchell King, spoke in a session entitled “Authority to Grant Summary Judgment” which addressed the questions of “does summary adjunction result in a denial of fundamental fairness?” and “are arbitrators free to consider and grant motions for summary adjunction?”
