On October 17, 2023, the New York State Cannabis Control Board (CCB) voted to extend the application period for adult-use cannabis licenses. The initial deadline, which was set for December 4, 2023, has now been moved to 5 PM EST on Monday, December 18, 2023. This extension encompasses all adult-use license categories where applications are being accepted, allowing potential cannabis businesses an extra two weeks to submit their applications. Additionally, the CCB has extended the priority application timeframe for non-provisional retail dispensary or microbusiness licenses, which requires applicants to demonstrate control over a location. The previous deadline of November 3, 2023 has been pushed to 5 PM EST on Friday, November 17, 2023. This 14-day extension is aimed at accommodating the growing enthusiasm for adult-use cannabis licensing throughout the state and to help ease the burden on applicants during this tight application window.
