Prince Lobel Adds Joshua Cook to Data Privacy Group

August 25, 2025

Prince Lobel welcomes Joshua Cook as a partner in the firm’s Data Privacy and Security practice group.

Josh brings more than 20 years of legal experience, including 12 years in-house at a Fortune Global 500 financial services company, where he served as the company’s first global cyber counsel and launched its cybersecurity legal function. He has commanded dozens of critical cyber, privacy, and fraud incidents, guiding C-suites and boards through various crises such as data breaches, ransomware attacks, large-scale fraud investigations, and government inquiries. This experience gives him a clear understanding of what matters most to clients when the stakes are highest.

His practice spans privacy, brand protection, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, as well as negotiating complex technology and data contracts that integrate cybersecurity and privacy strategy into business objectives. Josh is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a certified FINRA Arbitrator.

“I’m excited to join Prince Lobel and look forward to working with the firm’s amazing clients in navigating cybersecurity, privacy, and emerging technology challenges. Companies today need advisors who can provide clear, practical guidance that aligns security and compliance with business objectives to achieve resilience.  Prince Lobel offers the depth and reach to deliver that value,” said Josh.

“Having led cyber and privacy matters in-house at a multinational, multibillion dollar company, I know how critical it is to anticipate risk before it becomes a crisis. Joining Prince Lobel’s full-service platform allows me to build on that experience, giving clients comprehensive support across privacy, cybersecurity, and the broader business and regulatory landscape,” he added.

William S. Rogers, Jr., Chair of the firm’s Data Privacy and Security practice group said, “Josh’s privacy and cybersecurity work in private practice and in-house, while spanning the U.S., Canada, and the Pacific rim, afforded him with extensive experience in advising information technology officers, C-Suite Executives and Corporate Board Members, as well as currently in advising Broker-Dealers and Data Brokers, concerning their regulatory compliance and risk management obligations. Josh’s expertise adds a unique element to our Data Privacy and Security group, which we are eager to offer to clients.”

“Josh has substantial experience in private litigation as well as significant in-house broker-dealer legal experience, having served as Chief U.S. Counsel for Privacy, Cybersecurity, Brand and Intellectual Property portfolio management for a Fortune 500 company, which make him a synergistic addition to our Data Privacy and Security group,” said Managing Partner Craig Tateronis. “His legal and technical knowledge will be of great value to our corporate clients in both the public and private sectors.”

Josh has written a book titled Cyber Resilience by Design: The Executive’s Guide to Managing a Cyberattack along with multiple publications and articles on cybersecurity law, including “Cybersecurity: Be Sure to Practice Incident Response” in Regulatory Compliance Watch. He earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law and his B.A. from Boston College.
