Prince Lobel has joined the Midsize Mansfield Rule to expand the firm’s commitment to equity and inclusion. The Mansfield Rule, administered by Diversity Lab, sets benchmarks to measure whether firms have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent female lawyers, lawyers of color, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions. The midsize category consists of law firms with lawyers ranging from 25 to 150 and the process includes a rigorous 18-month period, starting in September 2021, of tracking, measuring, and achieving diversity in leadership. Prince Lobel is one of more than 70 firms participating in the program.
“Diversity and inclusion have been key elements of our firm’s identity since our founding in 1988. We strive to advance equity and inclusion both within our firm and in the communities where we work and live,” said Prince Lobel Managing Partner Craig Tateronis. “The Mansfield process required us to set benchmarks and to measure our progress against them. We are honored to become Mansfield Rule certified to express our commitment to increasing equity and inclusion within our firm and advance it in the legal community as a whole.”
Diversity Lab works with participating firms to measure their outcomes annually, and, based on those outcomes, redefines the Mansfield Rule program to ensure that the goal of diversifying firm leadership progresses as inclusively and impactfully as possible.
“All of the certified firms stepped up as trailblazers to create more diverse and inclusive leaderships in the midsize firm sector,” said Alyssa Jarvis, Senior Manager of Mansfield at Diversity Lab. “Despite launching this change-management effort during a global pandemic among other marketplace disruptions, these firms were not deterred from tackling challenging talent systems changes to increase diversity in their firms and the profession. This is a truly committed group of firms and leaders who see the value in measuring what matters.”
