Prince Lobel Expands Worcester Office with the Addition of Eight Lawyers

Prince Lobel has added 8 attorneys to its Worcester Office. Karina Abeddy, Brian Beaton, Mark Borenstein, Brian Edmonds, Jared Fiore, Tim Monahan, AiVi Nguyen, and Mark Powers have all joined the firm and will continue to practice in Worcester. Abeddy, Borenstein, Edmonds, Fiore, Monahan, Nguyen, Powers join the firm from Bowditch & Dewey. Beaton, who previously practiced at Bowditch & Dewey and later at Mirick O’Connell, has most recently served as Deputy General Counsel of Energy North.

Karina M. Abeddy works with clients on a range of bond transactions, and she also represents borrowers and lenders in financing deals. She handles matters related to mergers and acquisitions and public and corporate finance, which includes asset-based and intercreditor lending, stock sales, and general business financing.

Abeddy is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association as well as the Women’s Bar Association and the Arab American Bar Association of Massachusetts. She received her J.D. from Boston College Law School, and she graduated summa cum laude with her B.A. from Suffolk University.

Brian R. Beaton is an experienced business and real estate attorney. He handles acquisitions, sales agreements, leasing and licensing agreements, financing, land use, and construction matters. He also works with clients on general real estate and business transactions and has civil engineering consulting experience.

Beaton received his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has served as General Counsel of The Black Dog Tavern Company and Deputy General Counsel of Energy North.

Mark A. Borenstein focuses his practice on real estate law. He represents businesses across central Massachusetts and handles matters from land use to acquisitions and leasing. Borenstein has significant experience representing clients in the food and beverage space, including breweries, restaurants, and retailers. Borenstein has lived in Worcester his whole life, so his clients benefit from his knowledge of the culture and community.

Borenstein’s involvement in Worcester includes his position as Vice Chair of the Worcester City Democratic Committee and his participation in the Worcester County Bar Association as the Co-Chair of the Municipal Law Section and member of the Government Relations Committee. He was selected for inclusion in the Worcester Business Journal’s “Power 100” list for 2024. Borenstein received his J.D. from the Western New England University School of Law, and he graduated summa cum laude with his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Brian J. Edmonds handles dispute resolution and litigation cases. He represents clients in a range of matters including zoning appeals, contract disagreements, and employment conflicts.

Edmonds is the Co-Chair of the Massachusetts Appeals Court Law Clerk Society and a Member of the Park Commission of the Town of Groton. He is licensed to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as well as in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Edmonds received his J.D. magna cum laude from New England Law and his B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Jared A. Fiore is a trial lawyer who also provides business advice to his clients. He assists businesses in resolving contract and partnership disputes along with internal business disputes and lease disputes.

Fiore was a Practice Area Leader of Bowditch’s business litigation and financial services litigation groups. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Rainbow Child Development Center and also serves as the Co-Chair of its Public Policy Committee. He received his J.D. cum laude from University of Notre Dame Law School, where he received the University of Notre Dame Law School Dean’s Award for Trial Advocacy. He received his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross.

Timothy C. Monahan has more than ten years of experience as a business and finance lawyer. He represents clients in a range of financing from general financing to real estate and construction financing. Monahan also works with clients on mergers and acquisitions, business formations and business contracts.

Monahan was a Practice Area Leader of the commercial lending & finance group at Bowditch. He is a member of the Real Estate Finance Association, which is a section of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. Monahan received his J.D. from Boston College Law School and graduated with his B.A. cum laude from Boston College.

AiVi Nguyen is a trial and appellate lawyer who works with businesses across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. She handles contractual, employment, and real estate disagreements. Nguyen is an experienced arbitrator, mediator and zealous advocate for her clients. She works to help clients avoid litigation by advising them on day-to-day business operations.

Nguyen is a former Chair of the Diversity Committee at Bowditch. She is devoted to her hometown of Worcester and is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association. She also serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center. She received her J.D. from Boston College Law School and her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mark W. Powers focuses his practice on financial services and financial services litigation. He represents clients before state and federal courts on matters related to Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, creditors’ rights, and general litigation. Powers works with clients nationally and internationally including financial institutions, landlords, vendors, and banks. He also works with clients in the clean energy, manufacturing, and healthcare spaces.

Powers was a Practice Area Leader of Bowditch’s bankruptcy, restructuring & workout group. He is on the Board of Trustees of Anna Maria College and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Holy Cross Alumni Association. Powers received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, and he graduated magna cum laude with his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross.
