PRINCE LOBEL NAMES 2020 WALTER B. PRINCE FELLOW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-BOSTON, MA.
The fellowship was created by Prince Lobel and the Committee for Public Counsel Services in 2019 to honor the legacy of firm co-founder Walter Prince, whose early career included work with the Roxbury Defenders. Attorney Prince was a Roxbury Defender from 1974 to 1976, and he was the chairman of the committee from January 1992 through November 1993.
The fellowship is a one-year program that provides financial and training support to an outstanding attorney at the beginning of his or her career. Fellowship recipients spend a year working and training as a public defender while being compensated by Prince Lobel. Notes Attorney Prince, “This fellowship paves the way for a very bright and talented young lawyer to get a good start in the profession and in providing quality legal services to indigent clients.”
Hakeem is a 2020 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law, with a concentration in human rights, criminal defense, and international law. He was a Public Interest Law Scholar at Northeastern, a National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer summer law fellow, and was a fellow in the Program on Human Rights and the Global Economy.
Hakeem was also a legal intern at the People’s Law Office in Chicago, an intern for the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Boston, and an intern with Prisoners Legal Services. He was also a student attorney for Northeastern’s Prisoners’ Rights Clinic, an intern with The Legal Aid Society in Queens, New York, a researcher for Northeastern’s Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Clinic, and a research assistant at Northeastern’s Center for Public Interest Advocacy & Collaboration.
