Prince Lobel Welcomes Litigation and Patent Partner James J. Foster

Prince Lobel has expanded its Litigation Practice Group with the addition of James J. Foster. Jim is among the most experienced patent trial attorneys in the country with over 35 years of patent trial experience. His specialization includes patent litigation in computer-related and wireless technology.

Jim’s extensive patent jury experience includes acting as lead counsel in patent jury trials in various states including Massachusetts. He has made appearances before judges in juries in hundreds of cases around the country and is admitted to full membership in the bars of 14 United States district courts. His accolades include arguing cases in pro hac vice in twenty other districts.

Jim’s other accomplishments as an appellate advocate consist of numerous arguments of Federal Circuit patent decisions, in addition to non-patent appeals in four other United States Courts of Appeals. Among his representative matters, Jim won the largest jury verdict in a trade secret case within Massachusetts history and successfully argued its First Circuit Appeal (Foster-Miller v. Babcock & Wilcox Canada, Ltd.)

Jim’s legal background includes practicing as senior member at Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, P.C., where he chaired the Patent Litigation Group for many years and served on the firm’s Executive Committee.
