Prince Lobel Managing Partner announced today that Ricardo “Rick”
M. Sousa has been named chair of the firm’s Telecommunications Practice Group.
For the past ten years,
Sousa has focused his practice in the telecommunications industry, and has
represented several wireless providers and tower development companies in the
permitting and leasing of hundreds of wireless installations in New England. He has also represented tower development
companies in various bulk sale transactions involving the purchase and sale of
telecommunications facilities throughout the country.
The attorneys in the Telecommunications
Practice Group work closely with wireless carriers in formulating national,
regional, state, and local strategies for their network permitting and site
acquisition needs. The firm has negotiated thousands of leases and license
agreements in New England for its wireless clients, and has obtained municipal
permits for hundreds of difficult wireless sites in many Massachusetts,
Rhode Island, southern Maine,
and southern New Hampshire
jurisdictions. In addition, attorneys in this practice group have successfully
represented wireless carriers and tower developers in federal court in cases brought
under the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
In discussing Sousa’s new
role, Maloney stated “Rick’s skill in negotiating complex transactions, his
deep knowledge and experience in the telecommunications industry, and his
ability to successfully manage and integrate the various caseloads of the
attorneys in this practice group make him an ideal choice to take over as group
chair. Under his leadership, our attorneys will continue
to deliver high-value service while helping telecommunications
clients achieve their business goals.”
