In a case involving a missing couple from Essex, Vermont, the Vermont Supreme Court has temporarily agreed to a request by county prosecutors to “keep confidential search warrants and related documents” about the couple’s suspicious disappearance.
According to Rob, “there is a long historical need for court records, especially search warrants, to be public. It’s a fundamental democratic principle that secrecy breeds distrust of the government.”
