Biopure Corporation’s case is against Charles Natanson, an official with the National Institute of Health, who co-authored an article for the Journal of the American Medical Association. According to Biopure, Nathanson made a false statement about Biopure’s product, Hemopure blood substitute. Bertsche raised issues about “the impact cases like this one could have on scientific discourse and the publication of disputed scientific findings about medical and scientific affairs.” This article was also featured in The Legal Intelligencer.
