Thomas M. Elcock

Thomas M. Elcock represents domestic and international clients in insurance, reinsurance, commercial, and appellate matters. He counsels clients on policy interpretation and coverage issues under property and casualty, accident and health, E&O, D&O, and life and health policies, and represents clients in complex arbitrations, declaratory judgment, bad faith, and Chapter 93A actions. Tom has extensive experience representing self-insureds, captive insurers, and risk retention groups, including policy drafting and updating, coverage opinions, and coverage litigation. He also has an extensive appellate practice, having successfully handled numerous appeals before the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the Supreme Court of Rhode Island. Tom has extensive class action experience including successfully defending, on behalf of a Fortune 500 company, a nationwide class action in a case involving the purported deceptive marketing of telephone equipment and services.

Tom received his law degree from Suffolk University and his undergraduate degree from Denison University. He has also taught Legal Writing at Harvard University. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Massachusetts Reinsurance Bar Association and ARIAS-US. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and before the United States District Court of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
