Divorce Law Changes in Massachusetts: Women Beware – Nancy A. Freed Authors Article in “Better After 50”

June 5, 2012

Nancy Freed, Co-chair of Prince Lobel’s
Domestic Relations Practice Group, discusses the recent passage of the Alimony
Reform Act, which “changes the game in Massachusetts for divorce.”

and the creation of “durational limits” on the length of alimony awards, it is

financial security. In addition, the Act does not just apply to new divorces. Once
the appropriate waiting period has been met, those who have previously divorced
can ask the court to modify their existing divorce judgments.
