On Thursday, June 14, Partners Steve Gans and Peter Caruso spoke at the MCLE’s 21st Annual Intellectual Property Conference on the topic of “IP and Sports.” Caruso and Gans discussed many sports-law issues, including the IP rights of sponsors and teams, trademark protections for team and event logos, and the efforts of broadcasters to combat copyright infringement related to illegal digital streaming of games. This topic was made especially relevant in that it coincided with the first day of the World Cup 2018.
