Prince Lobel to Team with Cohen Law Maine

December 16, 2019

BOSTON—Cohen Law Maine’s Managing Partner, Jill Polster, and Prince Lobel’s Managing Partner, Craig Tateronis, announce that the firms have formed an alliance to provide more comprehensive counsel and service to their clients in the cannabis industry in Maine.

Prince Lobel provides strategic advice and representation to dispensaries, cultivators, manufacturers, management companies, retailers, property owners, and prospective investors in the cannabis industry. Its attorneys are the leading voice on legal issues relating to cannabis, speaking at many of the industry’s largest events and writing on cutting-edge topics for local and national publications. The firm’s 85 attorneys provide legal counsel in a wide range of practice areas and industries on matters of local, regional, national, and international reach. The firm formed its cannabis practice in 2014, at the time representing some of the first of the medical marijuana businesses that successfully obtained licenses and now operate in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Cohen Law Maine, LLC is a boutique law firm focused on servicing the needs of cannabis businesses in the existing medical caregiver market as well as with those entering Maine’s new adult-use market. The firm provides counsel to clients with retail stores, cultivation operations, extraction labs, edibles manufacturing operations, and related entities looking to add experienced hands-on accessible cannabis lawyers to their team. Long-time successful Georgia criminal defense lawyers, Andy Cohen and Jill Polster initially became licensed in Maine in 2016 to provide legal assistance to start-up cannabis businesses. Today, they work with companies from formation to operation, helping them achieve their goals of becoming licensed, compliant, revenue-generating, branded cannabis operations.

Mr. Tateronis comments, “Jill and Andy have a deep commitment to their clients and to becoming the premier cannabis lawyers in Maine. They will be an asset to our clients who are seeking to extend the reach of their businesses into Maine. Moreover, on behalf of their Maine clients, Jill and Andy will be able to leverage the talents and experience of our firm’s 10-12 cannabis lawyers; many of whom have experience in multiple jurisdictions outside of Massachusetts. Our affiliation with Cohen Law Maine will expand the relationships and reach of both firms, and together we will provide a more comprehensive service offering to the very talented and promising cannabis brands and businesses looking to grow in Maine.”

Ms. Polster adds, “In Prince Lobel we found a firm with a track record of success in representing cannabis clients and one with an entrepreneurial spirit similar to our own. We look forward to being a valuable resource to Prince Lobel clients interested in exploring opportunities in Maine. At Cohen Law Maine we are relentless in our efforts to level the playing field for our clients with established medical caregiver operations as well as for those entering Maine’s emerging adult-use market. Forming an alliance with Prince Lobel assures that our current and future clients have the best of both worlds — small-firm culture with access to world-class lawyers and the resources of a top-notch law firm.”

Prince Lobel Tye LLP was founded in 1988, and has been lauded for its support of the community through pro bono work and its dedication to diversity. The firm has been named a 2020 “Best Law Firm” by U.S. News-Best Lawyers in both national and Boston-area tiers. Thirty-five Prince Lobel attorneys are also named to the 2020 Massachusetts Super Lawyer ranking.
