Steve Gans was quoted alongside financial experts such as Mark Cuban in a recent Institutional Investor article about how private equity firms may be the next big owners of NFL franchises. Gans, who is credited as a “partner at Boston law firm Prince Lobel Tye and a financial adviser to soccer team owners” said that equity firms might be interested in buying sports franchises largely because of the prestige such ownership offers. “It’s often been said that these are people who can walk into a restaurant and order anything they want, but no one recognizes them, so they become sports team owners,” Gans stated.
