In a recent New York Times article on the growing popularity of professional soccer in the United States, attorney Steve Gans was quoted discussing Major League Soccer (MLS)’s prospects for advancement. “They do enough to get the stadium full, but can they transcend that?” Gans wondered. “When fans watch two Premier league games in the morning, will they also watch an M.L.S. game in the afternoon?” Gans, who chairs Prince Lobel’s Soccer Law Practice Group, is considering a run for President of the U.S. Soccer Federation in 2018.
