The Massachusetts Department of Family Leave (DFML) has now made it official. The deadline for the required withholdings/contributions under the State’s new family and medical leave program has been pushed back from July 1, 2019 to October 1, 2019. Employers will be responsible for remitting employee and (if applicable) employer contributions for the October 1 to December 31 quarter through MassTaxConnect by January 31, 2020.

In addition, the DFML announced that the requirement to give employees notice of their rights and the employer’s contribution percentage has been pushed back from June 30 to September 30, 2019.

Prince Lobel will continue to monitor and report on important events with respect to the roll-out of this new law.
